Make music with a virtual reality keyboard.
Developed by Walter Lim, Chris Lu, Patricia Tan and Thomas Louden, Matter is a virtual reality experiment designed to create music. It explores the development of virtual reality interface research, and presents players with virtual instruments in VR.
When players put the headset on, they are exposed to a surreal vaporwave environment with responsive objects that react to how users perform. This project was supported by Dr. Stefan Marks as part of AUT Colab’s Bachelor of Creative technologies degree.
The Matter team used the Pigsty Oculus DK2 for the full semester. If you are a DCT student wanting to borrow the Oculus or any other Pigsty equipment, you can request it via this form.
