Pigsty hosted the June AKLGamedev Meetup which included a Women in Games panel lead by AUT student and NZGDA Board Member Farah Khalaf and featuring Media Design School students Claire Barilla, Kelsey Scheurich and Brianna Fromont from Itsfine Games and freelance environment artist Victoria Smith. Opening discussions around representation and industry diversity has been a long time coming and this talk around gender was well received with dialogue expanding and extending in to the late evening networking and pub session.
The evening was also host to a dense showcase of various AUT student work. Check out this video to get a taste.
Thanks to Britta Pollmuller, all of her Digital Design: Gaming Stream students and everyone else for making the pizza sessions one of the liveliest yet.
